Lame. Feels unfinished. Fleeing damage is a dumb mechanic. No storyline. Pointless and boreing.. Heroes of monkey tavern is what i would call a sleeper, its desgin and gameplay is great and has what you expect and more from this type of game, i would say its a must to play so don't waste time go and buy it now. Great game. Very simple and straight forward. It doesnt let itself get bogged down by story. Just kill everything and loot everything.. Cons:-Terrible name-Real time combat-Can't name characters-Lack of information on what abilities you'll get-Can't seem to change difficulty-Too shortPros:-Music-Price-Similar to Grimrock, but arguably better-Very atmospheric-Challenging but not impossible"Heroes of the Monkey Tavern" sounds kind of like a horrible mobile game or something. I really wish it was called something else. I also think turn-based combat would be more appropriate for a game where you move on a grid, not to mention it would be more appropriate considering the history of the genre. The only reason I can think of is Legend of Grimrock. At least we don't have to constantly backtrack to open old chests, have to deal with food, limited ammo, and a painful, gawd-awful spell system. I think it's actually better than Grimrock overall because of those things.I do like the game despite the cons, so I'd recommend it overall.. Lame. Feels unfinished. You are not allowed to flee from a battle and if you use movement tactics (try to move behind the enemy or hit from the side) you get a "flee penalty". During the battles you are forced into a stand-and-fight situation that I dont enjoy at all. The battle system completely killed the game. But ofcourse, if you like that kind of "locked" stand-and-fight system that exist in many MMO:s today this might be a game for you.. Great game, lots of fun for a cheap price...a little bit too easy but you must try it.
